prolouge

independance day

it's twelve o'clock in the evening in Gotham city. if it were any other city than Gotham it would have been a perfect time for families to be outside and enjoying their time together, but sadly it is Gotham so things won't turn out that way. instead a supervillian of some sort has to come has to ruin the festivities.

today it's mister freeze, who happens to be currently using his freeze ray to reduce children and their parents to human popcicles. he's just standing on what used to be a boulder but is now covered in ice prepraring to turn a family attempting to enjoy a barbeque. "enjoying family time?" he mockingly asks while lowering his weapon towards the family while powering it up. he then shoots the family covering them in ice "my family has other plans."

he slowly slides down the ice ramp he made when attacking the family, he begins to power-up his ray when it's suddenly hit with a stray projectile, "batman" he whispers knowing (or atleast thinks he knows) exactly where said projectile came from. he turns and points the gun in the oposite direction when he hears a mysterious cackle hover in the air. he looks around to see where the noise was coming from when an person lands on his helmet, and uses it to propel himself into an impressive acrobatic stunt causing him to fall to the ground.

robin then reaches for his belt and tosses two round disks which cracks his helmet once he makes impact with the ground. "oh, boy wonder." states mister freeze while rising from his position on the ground. "the bat sent you to drag me off to prison? frankly i'm underwhelmed."

"great, but i'm kinda in a hurry here" says robin gestering his hand to express his impatients. "kids, always in such a rush. me i'd like to preserve the moment." Mister Freeze retorts while pointing his weapon at the boy wonder.

"not talking to you." the child say in an impatient yet slightly playful tone the villian gasps turining around to see the dark knight himself jump out and punch a whole straight through his cracked helmet.

Around nine o'clock on a bridge in star city a villian who has the ability to manipulate and create ice lands on the bridge gracefully and creates a tower of ice around himself causing the cars on the bridge to crash and create a a small pile-up. He cackles evilly so caught up in the chaos that he fails to notice the trick arrows landing in the ice surrounding him until one lands in his left shoulder blade.

His eyes widen, but by then its too late and the arrows explode. Small explosions knocking into him and slightly disorienting him. He gains him composure and looks up to the top railing of the bridge and sees two vigilante archers known to Star City as Green Arrow and Speedy. Both archers are stairing down at the villain arrows knotched and preparing another attack.

"finally" he says in a confident tone "was wondering what a guy had to do to get a little attention around here. While letting the ice grow and collect on his hands before getting ready to sling shard of ice in the two hero's direction.

"he's doing this for attention" the younger archer remarks with a tone of not only disbelief but annoyance, while letting his already knotched arrow fly and colliding with the oncoming shards of ice. "I'm telling you this little distraction better not interfere." He continues as he proceeds to follow his mentor down the from the top of the bridge towards the villain on the road below, while simultaneously avoided continuos attacks by said villain.

The ice covered baddy reaches toward the ground and moves his arm in an arch, his arms leaving ice in their wake creating a shield to protect himself from the onslaught of arrows headed in his direction.

He then shoots some ice in speedy's direction hoping to catch the younger archer unawares. Unfortionatley for him speedy was prepared. Dodging the onslaught and seeing an opening speedy lets an arrow fly hitting his opponent in the jaw and knocking him out.

Speedy lands next to his mentor who chuckles turns to him and says "kid had a glass jaw" his amusement apparent by his tone. "hilarious" the young sidekick replies impatiently "can we go now? Todays the day."

On a ship in pearl harbor, early in the morning killer frost was attacking aquaman who was at the time maneuvering his way from the captains level of the ship closer to killer frost while simultaneously avoiding her attacks, but upon landing on the deck he becomes distracted and is overtaken by a blast from frost rooting him to the spot.

Seeing his kings dilemma aqualad leaps over, into the fight and removes the handles to his waterpack (if that is not what they are called plz feel free to tell me in a review) and ready's them for the fight, while aquaman is able to break out of the ice. Aqualad lands infront of killer frost who manipulates the water from his packs into a mace, hits her below the jaw and knocks her out.

Aquaman walks up to his protégé and places a hand on his shoulder. "are you excited kaldur?" after hearing his mentor's question he replies "I am my king. Today is the day."

Late in the afternoon in front of a jewelry store in central city Captain Cold is attempting to get away with a bag of stolen jewels but finds himself surrounded by two red and yellow blurs.

Captain Cold turns in different directions attempting to hit atleast one of his targets with his freeze ray. "stealing ice? Isn't that a little cliché, even for you Captain Cold?" The Flash remarks mocking his adversary, though The Flash is willing to draw this battle out, his protégé Kid Flash is not. "ugh. . .I don't have time for this" the teen grumbles while pulling his goggles over his eyes and turning towards the villain.

The Rouge points his weapon at the hero and pulls the trigger, hoping to get a shot. Kid Flash sees this coming and dodges the shot and takes the weapon out of Captain Cold's hand. He stares at Kid Flash standing there holding his weapon, and is taken by surprise and is knocked out by The Flash before he even has time to fully register the fact that the gun is no longer in his hand.

The Flash turns to his protégé and opens his mouth preparing to say something but is promptly cut off by kid flash. "no uhuh, you chat it up with the bystander, the police, with cold even, but not today" the child's eyes grow wide and his grin spreads even further across his face as he states what seems to be the mantra of the day "today's the day!"

At a mall in Park City around eleven o'clock and unknown ice creature is attacking innocent shoppers. "um. . .i understand last minute shopping on any holiday is hectic, but this is ridiculous" states a yound female dressed in a pair of black tights and a form fitting black hoody, with a white spider on the front and back forming a mirror image. Swinging from the third floor balcony fingerless glove covered hands gripping a strand of organic webbing. She half land half kicks the creatures face with her high-heeled black boots, and flips onto wall and into a crouch.

"so Black Canary sends her sidekick to do her dirty work for her" the villain states, earning a look of annoyance and frustration from underneath the young hero's black shades. "excuse me? I don't know what you're talking about, but last time I checked I was nobody's sidekick!" spider-girl retorts using a kick to the head and knocking him out to emphasize her point. Black Canary lands next to the girl as they make their way from the mall and sighs "you don't have to react that way every time someone refers to you as my sidekick."

"maybe I wouldn't if they didn't do it everytime they see me!" she replies "I mean come on I it's been four years since I started out, and I've been working with you occasionally emphasis on occasionally for three of those years so considering I was on my own for the first year of my career and I've gone on patrol alone all of those three years, a little common sense would tell you that I'm not a sidekick."

The spider takes a breath then continues with a slight grin on her face and if not for the glasses Canary was sure she would have seen a satisfied glint in the young masked vigilante's eyes "but not anymore, not after today. Because todays the day!"
